Our Paving Process

Driveways:

Following is our standard procedure, though there might be some variation as each driveway is different in regards to soil conditions. For example, some already have a good thickness of base rock and all you need is to add and compact Class II bas rock to alleviate low and sunken areas..

  1. We recommend excavating 9 1/2 inches below finished elevations (concrete garage slabs and top front driveway approach entrances)
  2. Compact existing native soil
  3. We recommend a stabalization fabric re-inforced woven that engineers say equals 2" of Class II base rock (marifi 500-600 and/or equal)(optional)
  4. Compact Class II base rock to a thickness of 6” with a 5-ton roller. This scope of work is for a typical driveway.
  5. Place and compact 1" of fresh sand.
  6. Place and compact interlocking paving stone with vibrated sand from the surface.

Walkways and Patios:

  1. We excavate 7 ½ inches from proper elevations
  2. Compact native soil
  3. We recommend a stabilization fabric re-enforced woven that engineers say equals to 2" inches of Class II base rock ( marifi 500-600 and/or equal)(optional)
  4. Compact Class II base rock to a thickness of 4” with either a vibratory plat and/or 5-ton roller (providing we can get the machine into the project area)
  5. Place and compact 1" of fresh sand.
  6. Place and compact interlocking paving stone with vibrated sand from the surface
